There are five pillars of Islam; Uniqueness (Tauheed), Prayer, Fast, Pilgrimage (Hajj) and Alms-giving (Zakat). The first pillar is Tauheed (Uniqueness), the announcement of the Uniqueness of the Almighty and the Prophet Hood of Muhammad (PBUH). Although it is just a confirmation uttered from the tongue but you cannot get into the circle of Islam without it. This announcement is the prelude and a basic step for introducing into this particular Institution and the Class called religion Islam. Unless you stipulate, you cannot become the part and parcel of this particular Class. Because of this fact, Tauheed is an essential pillar, but you don’t have to abide by rules and regulations. Regardless of wherever in the Universe you’re, whatever your age is, what words you speak, your ethnic background or time, if you have recited Kalimaah-e-Haq (Kalimaah-e-Tayyaba), given acceptance from your tongue, you become part of the Islamic Republic.
Love is seemingly a four-letter word, but it spins our world around more than the merry-go-round. Still, our lives are incomplete without it. No matter how much has been written on this emotion, it remains a mystery and inexplicable. Every time, it manifests something new and not two experiences of love can ever be the same. This four letter word is the reason behind the creation and expansion of the universe in every imaginable sense. People have sacrificed lives and taken the lives of the other all in the name of love. In the end, it comes down to every individual’s perception. Poetry, prose, stories and quotes are all incomplete without the element of love. Continue reading
Ahmad, the chef, sees his face in the mirror. He names it reflection. When he walks away from the mirror, his reflection disappears. The mirror is blank now. After a few minutes, Ahmad comes back and sees his reflection.
Hassam, the architect, comes close to the mirror to see what happened. He sees both Ahmad and his reflection. He cannot tell them apart. He asks Ahmad to move away. Reflection goes, the mirror is blank again. He calls him back and his face (reflection) reappears. Surprised to see, Hassam slaps Ahmad. Ahmad places hand on his left cheek. The mirror reflects. Hassam gets confused. He goes and slaps reflection. It does not move. He comes back and pinches Ahmad. He says ouch! The reflection moves. Hassam now pinches the reflection. It remains still and shows no feelings. He realizes that the reaction only comes from the object, not the reflection.
I used to mumble before putting my thoughts on paper. This really helped me in showing the exact emotions required for the particular part. There were also times when I corrected something in a much similar manner. In all those times I never realized and was not even bothered to know what it was. Only a few days ago I realized that it was the sound of the writer’s voice courtesy of my Creative Writing course. The discussion made me look in to voice with a whole new perspective. Never knew voice has so much importance in writing and that you can sense the expression in a novel through voice.
Ever since I have moved to London, I have been praising the local transport system. The way they have managed it is quite remarkable considering the pretty small road compared to what we have in Pakistan. And to have bus stops and routing through these and that too without affecting the traffic is a feat in its own sense. The other good thing is you will find a map, timetable and details of the buses stopping over right at the bus stops. But two days ago I happened to travel through train and tube en route to Central London. And the experience I had has only train and tube to the list.
The Universe as well as all the living creatures has been created with the combination of the Four elements. The mixing of different ratio of these Four Elements formed new species. In other words, a particular species is the name of the combination of the Four Elements in a specific ratio. These commonly and universally known Four Elements are:
It would not be difficult for any of us to gauge that our life revolves around numbers. From the day one till the last breath we just cannot get away from the number syndrome. As soon as a baby is born the first number is the date and time of birth and the last one is the date and time of the death including the age. What happens in between that may vary from person to person but one thing is similar for almost all the people – the phase of education. After that although the perspective for everyone gets different with respect to the numbers but it does not abandon any one of us.
